It's been pretty hectic the past couple weeks with Holly having seven appointments along with the kids getting back to school, it has been a whirlwind.
We have fantastic news though! During her appointment with the radiation oncologist, she received the results from the lymph node surgery.... all lymph nodes are cancer free! This means either there was no cancer in those nodes to begin with or that the chemotherapy worked and killed all the cancer cells.
Along with the radiation consultation she had a CT simulator mapping appointment where they work to precisely locate the treatment field. She will start radiation therapy four to five weeks from now and it will be five days a week for three weeks straight. Typically the only side effects for this treatment are fatigue and local burning.
Last week she also had an appointment with the oncologist to talk about starting hormone therapy. This begins with a monthly injection, which she received on Monday, and will be followed by daily oral medication. This treatment will last five years and hopefully not have too many side effects.
While it's going to be busy with the upcoming radiation treatments it's starting to feel like we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again for all the support you've given us through this challenge.
